Azure Dome, A Different Approach for Kerman

It doesn’t matter if you are into nature or culture; Kerman has it all. Lut desert (Iran’s 1st natural world heritage), with it’s Kaluts (yardangs) and majestic Yalan sand dunes (up to 480m tall) is just one of Kerman’s attractions.

Having the most UNESCO world heritage sites, Kerman has a lot to offer when it comes to culture and history. We can mention citadels of Bam and Rayen, a Persian garden (Shahzadeh Garden), 3 qanats, the village of Meymand and many many more historical places that some of them are still waiting to be found.

In AzureDome, couple of mountaineers and local guides who are in love with Iran gathered beside each other. We set this love for the job we are doing and to the place we are going as our main criteria. Here, we’ll try our best to provide the most accurate information on Kerman from details on various attractions, how to get there and where to sleep; to a wide range of affordable & cheap tours.

star rating  Being in Kerman also implies visiting the Lut Dessert. We decided to go for the two-day Kaluts, Jahar and Keshit Canyon tour incl. some historical sights like an abandoned caravanserai... read more and the ghost town of Keshit, swimming at a hidden waterfall, camping in the dunes, and going off-road to the Kaluts. We paid 300 Euro for two people - yes, it sounds expansive, but yes, it was definitely worth the money. Not to be missed at any circumstances!

With Firuze we had a great local guide who not only told us all kind of exciting things about the dessert and life in the region, but also helped us with our further activities around Kerman. And Hamid, our driver, did not knew only every grain of sand in this dessert but also brought us to his home, where his wife and two daughters provided us twice with delicious homemade vegetarian food.

star rating  I wanted to visit Kerman just to do a tour into the Lut desert, with overnight camping. Since I wanted to see the Bazar, I asked Ali to adjust our... read more trip and we started there. Ali had many interesting stories, knew everything and could answer many questions that I had and this is what makes a great guide. We then drove to Kaluts with other guests and waited for the sunset which was amazing since the full moon was coming out on the other side! After that, dinner, camping, sunrise over an oasis. We were all too tired to drive into the desert for a sunrise but this would be my wish for the next time. Our trip included swimming and breakfast in an oasis with a Keshit waterfall and visiting a deserted village nearby. We finished with a visit to a Mahan Persian garden.
